This clock is hypnotic! It consists of a AVR driven clock circuit which drives an 8 segment 12 or 24H display. The segments are 48mm high and consists of 3mm high brightness - but diffuse - LEDs. Nothing special so far? Wait! Around the perimeter of the 188mm diameter circuit board are 3mm high brightness LEDs on a 60 second circle (every 5 seconds is a 5mm LED). When the clock is running the seconds are kept by a chase LED running anti-clockwise from 12 noon back to the relevant seconds position. It gets better. The first second sweep from the 12 noon position to its permanent location takes exactly one second. This position then remains illuminated. The next second (whilst only travelling 58/60 as far), still takes one second. This procession continues until the entire 6- positions are lit up. Even though the sweep at, say 45 seconds is only 25% as far as the first second, it still takes one second to make the journey.
When the entire face has filled up one minute has elapsed, the digital clock increments by one and the whole process starts again. Trust us, the visual effect is mesmerising!! That's why we call it the Clockwatchers Clock.
The kit comprises of 188mm diameter double sided plated-thru PCB with overlay and all board components. A special clock housing is included. you can let your friends see your workmanship through the clear clock face. The final clock will remain a conversation for years.
