Building a project with heaps of 7-segment displays is always going to look awesome, but unless you have the right hardware, it can use up a lot of IO pins. The MAX7219 based 8 Digit 7 Segment Display module takes care of that, running all eight digits from just three IO pins. Extra units can be daisy-chained from the end of the previous unit for truly huge displays.
