Hi,
I recently bought a pair of CX2618 3Way 700Hz, 3.5KHz, 8 Ohm, crossovers and have a couple of questions about them. If anybody has any experience with them, or can offer some suggestions I would appreciate it.

1/. What sort of tweeter was this crossover designed for? Putting the values measured off the crossovers into a circuit simulation package gives good agreement for the 700Hz low frequency crossover for the Woofer and Midrange, similarly for the high -3db point for the Midrange which comes out at about 3.5-4KHz. The Tweeter however comes out with a -3dB point at more like 1.5KHz! This seems like a lot of overlap and so low it might cause a problem to some tweeters.

2/. For the tweeter the values I measured were 10uF (as marked) and 0.56mH, the Jaycar crossover tables in the catalog etc. confirm that at least the C value is high if this was intended for a 3.5KHz, 8 Ohms tweeter. By the way the formula in the Jaycar document is only for the 6dB case, in the 12dB case for a Butterworth type filter the R value should be multiplied by the square root of 2 and that gives the values shown in the 12dB table)

3/. Both crossovers have the same values so I can only assume that this is not a random error but was designed that way. Any ideas why this might have been done like this?

Thanks Paul.

Without doing the math, i'd assume that it's designed for a 6-ohm tweeter as a lot of tweeters have a 6 ohm impedance.
